Your Council Tax

In Gravesham we pay our Council tax to the 'Collection Authority' which in our case is Gravesham Borough Council.

However, Gravesham does not receive all the revenue generated by the Council Tax. Gravesham Borough Council has to hand most of that money to the other three authorities in Kent who also provide services.

A band D Council Tax Payer would pay £1,294.88 in total.
Here is how the money is split:

Kent County Council (Tory) receives: £964.17
Gravesham Borough Council (Tory)) receives £148.88
Kent Police Authority (Tory) receives £122.18
Kent Fire & Rescue Authority (Tory) receives £61.65

For every £1 you pay:

74p goes to Kent County Council.
11p goes to Gravesham Borough Council.
10p goes to Kent Police.
5p goes to Kent Fire & Rescue Authority.

Every penny of your Council Tax is spent in Kent by the Tories!
Year on year the Tories in Kent have received Millions extra from the Labour Government and still they hike up the Council Tax.

This year (2007/08) the increases are as follows:
Percentage increases:
KCC 4.95%
KPA 4.99%
KF&RA 3.79%
GBC 4.88%
Cash Terms Increases (Per Year)
KCC £45.45
KPA £5.81
KFRA £2.25
GBC £6.76

The Tories in Kent claim they can be trusted with your money!
